These last few years I’ve been working freelance doing marketing and communication strategies for businesses. Since I only needed a computer to do it, I dedicated myself to travel the world. An authentic digital nomad, which they now call.
I was living in Japan, then in the Philippines, Morocco, Namibia, and Botswana.
And I ended up living for sometime in a small Greek island called Symi, a paradise:
The thing was yes, I was very happy while living all these experiences, but I also took notice of these two things:
1. I felt alone: you can’t arrive at a new city, rent a new place, go to a co-working or cafeteria and make a soul friend that is just like you and that, additionally, has enough time to see you more than once a week.
2. On the other hand, as a freelance I missed learning from a team: working with others makes it so you easily learn and it helps you see different perspectives on the same theme. As a freelance, your work ends up being somewhat repetitive, unless that you invest on training continuously… But it doesn’t get close to working in a team.
Lady, why are you telling me all this?
Because some months ago, in an event for entrepreneurs that takes places in Barcelona (Startup Grind), I met a girl whose name was Canela.
She came up to me while I was stealing a spinach empanada, the ones they give you when the event is about to end (I literally put one in my cloth bag to eat it after, because they were so good) – fortunately, she didn’t notice of my feat, so we started talking.
She told me that along with his best friend, Federico, they were creating a project to create a working community for entrepreneurs and freelancers in different places across the world.
A place to work with people similar to you for a month, in a remote country, where they additionally offer you quality training, a co-working space, a small house, and they organize the most unique experiences so you can spend 30 incredible days.
I immediately felt a sense of jealousy that I wasn’t part of something so cool.
Of course, I had no clue that after a few months they would end up being two of my best friends…
And that they would invite me to become part of the team to create CoWorld.
What is CoWorld exactly?
As we said in this Entrepreneur article, in CoWorld we organize 30 days co-working retreats for freelance workers and in remote, entrepreneurs and people in between career transitions.
We create a productive work environment on different places across the world (Buenos Aires, Barcelona, Rio de Janeiro and Ho Chi Minh, for now), where the participants count on accommodation, a co-working space, training and escapes to break their routine, hug the multiculturalism in a new country, discover new perspectives, and create new friendships, as well as professional relationships and business opportunities.
And what is going to happen with this blog?
The other day I came across once again Startup Grind. Once again I met really interesting people (I can’t recommend you enough this event, and the best part is that is presented by my good friend Alex, a fascinating person which you can never stop learning from, and that eats as much as I do) and once again I came out really motivated.
And I started sending audios to my partner Fede, and something like this happened:
-Yes, the one of Tomas Santoro. What is happening?
-I’ve been thinking that we should start a blog like his, but addressed to digital nomads and people interested on becoming one, and offer quality content, but real quality, that people don’t understand that we are sharing content with such great value for free… This way we can help everyone and make CoWorld grow until we become the biggest community of digital nomads in the world.
- You’ve drunk enough already, but yes, let's do it.
So here we are. And these are the first four articles we are going to publish – all with creative marketing strategies, invented at home, that you are not going to read anywhere else:
- How I travel completely free and sleep in five-star hotels 26/12/2017
- How I got to meet with famous influencers such as Pat Flynn, Neil Patel or Rand Fishkin 2/1/2018
- How to appear in national media for free 9/1/2018
- How to get your first three clients as a freelance in a week 16/1/2018
Yes, we will teach you all this for free, in a blog, imagine what we have to share in our retreats.
So here you have us; me, Candela Ghelfi, and Federico Eufemio, three friends trying to help people do the step to adventure and live traveling, with the illusion to create the biggest community of digital nomads in the world.
At the moment we are 89 of the 100.000. Can you help us grow on Facebook?:
Thank you so much! See you next Tuesday 😊
